エクアドルの首都キト旧市街の騎馬警官。
キトの市街は保存状態の良好さが高く評価されている歴史地区であり、1978年に登録された最初のUNESCO世界遺産12件のひとつである。

馬には自動車やオートバイにはない特長・利点があるので、今日でも馬は多くの国の警察にとって欠かせない装備の一つになっている。
特に、群衆のコントロールをする時にすぐれた心理的効果を発揮することが知られている。
欧米ではきわめて実用的な観点から騎馬警官が活用されているのである。

　右の馬の顔のマーキングは、大流星鼻梁白鼻白（Blaze）と流星鼻梁小白（Star and strip）の中間のように見える。白い部分が、かなりの対称性をもっていて美しい。

The historic center of Quito has one of the largest, least-altered and best-preserved historic
centers in the Americas.
Quito is the first World Cultural Heritage Sites declared by UNESCO in 1978.

Mounted police are police who patrol on horseback (equestrians) or camelback.
The added height and visibility that the horses give their riders allow officers to observe a
wider area,but it also allows people in the wider area to see the officers,which helps deter
crime and helps people find officers when they need them.
