Makoto Kuraishi ( *born January 22, 1969 in Nagano, Japan) is a Japanese tenor singer. He studied at the Tokyo University of Art and then took a master's course for opera at the same university.
In his studies, he had the first appearance as Ferrando 's "Cosi fan tutte " by W.A .Mozart .Early in his career he was already playing for example, the 9th symphony of Beethoven or oratorios with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonieker and also at the "Opera Concertante series " with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2000, he got a Scholarship and studied at the Music Academy in Bologna. Then he took more courses even with the Maestro " Paride Venturi" , also known as a teacher of f.e. Calro Colombara and William Matteuzzi was . In 2001 he entered the Montepulciano Music Festival in Italy and sang Goro "Madama Butterfly".
In 2002 , after returning from Italy he played Rinuccio " Gianni Schicchi " at Shinsei Theater Tokyo, Narihira Ariwara "Woman in Izutsu " at the Tokyo Chamber Opera , Camille " The Merry Widow" , Turiddu " Cavalleria Rusticana " at Fujisawa Citizen Opera, Nemorino " L' elisir d' amore " at the Yokohama City Opera. His repertoire is not limited to the opera, but spreads in symphonies and oratorios such as " 9th Symphony ", " Misa Solemnis " by Beethoven, "Requiem" by Mozart, Verdi and Suppé, " Messiah" by Handel, " Stabat Mater" by Rossini , etc. Lately shown his interest also to the German songs , in his solo concert in 2013, he sang " Dichterliebe " by Schumann.
In 2014 he plays again Yocho of the opera " Yuzuru " in many cities in Japan with one of the most famous Japanese Prima Donna " Shinobu Sato " .
Also for years he has been teaching at the " Tokyo College of Music."
